Good food, slow breakfast service. My wife and I used to come here often on weekends for breakfast. Whether we'd come before 8 or after 11, we always seemed to wait more 30 minutes for our food. This is too long, in my opinion, for some eggs and potatoes at a plate of toast. Nevertheless, every meal we've had has been delicious. No complaints about the food. Just the speed of the kitchen.

A Great Place & even Better People. Our waitress Jess & the manager really stepped up and took care of us. Flavors are amazing & it has an Awesome Vibe. It was very clean & has an cool local feel. Good Luck to Jess & Thank You :-)

I guess this place is good if you want breakfast at an "upscale" restaurant that's a cut above Denny's or IHOP, but that's the only compliment I'll give. My basic breakfast of scrambled eggs with cheese, sausage, toast and potatoes was fine, but nothing tasted or was presented much better than your average greasy spoon establishment. Also, their prices are higher. I couldn't believe they charge $2.39 for coffee. Isn't that a lot? (I opted for water. Ha ha.) Like other reviewers have noted, the Egg and I has a sterile ambiance, albeit everything seemed clean. I know this sounds horrible, but if you're an older person with plenty of money who likes a little gourmet flair and you don't care about ambiance, then the Egg & I might be for you. Not terrible. Not great either. I doubt I'll be back. Denny's is good enough for me.

We were visiting from out of town and saw the breakfast and lunch sign as we drove by. Nice selection of breakfast dishes. We ordered a frittata and an omelet which came with home fries. Everything was very good. I have to avoid gluten and I was offered fruit instead of toast, which I appreciated! We would eat there again.

The Egg and I is a very clean restaurant which I like. The salt and pepper shakers were even clean, no greasy feeling from other patrons. I like drinking out of glassware instead of those red plastic cups you get from other restaurants. We went for lunch for the first time and I had the Classic Club with side of cottage cheese. The club was very good and filled well with meat. My husband had the Triple Lunch Combo, he had the Sante Fe salad and white bean chili and half a Reuben and all was superior in taste. Service was great and served with a smile. I would definitely go again. I think management is doing a great job, making sure restaurant is clean and service is good and food quality is outstanding.

Don't waste your time. Came in with a group of 10 for breakfast. Literally 1 hour after we placed our order, the waitress came over and apologized that a couple of cooks had called in sick, but she would keep an eye out for our order. The meal finally came 90 minutes after we ordered, and was as bland and nasty as could be. Not to mention at least 5 errors in terms of who got what. Nice enough to give us a 20% discount, but the whole thing was a straight up fiasco. Not worth the time.

Had breakfast here with my wife. Eggs Parisian was good, wife had sunrise chili rellenos which she liked. Sat on patio which was nice. Service was good as well.

Second visit with the same results. Cooks can't figure out the difference between an over easy egg or a brown one that is rubbery. Service good....hospitality is nice...food prep needs work...and that is no bull.

There always seems to be a wait at the Egg & I, but I'm not sure why. The food isn't bad, but it isn't great either.

I love the Egg and I.......great food, great coffee and a wonderful, friendly staff. I always eat here anytime I'm driving through Grand Junction. Wish they would open one up in Montrose!!!!

Went in on a Sunday morning. They were busy, but service was good and the food was good. As for cost, a little higher than other "breakfast" places, but I paid about what expected for the food.

I've eaten here twice, and I probably won't go back. I was very excited when they first opened, as this was the first restaurant within walking distance of my home. Unfortunately there was a problem with the service on both of my visits. One time they brought the wrong food and the other time it just took forever for our order to arrive. As for the food itself, it's good but not great. There is nothing creative or fun about the food or the restaurant. Very corporate. The decor is pleasant but sterile. "The Egg and I" is one of the more expensive breakfast/lunch spots in town, but the service and food are mediocre at best. I guess my favorite thing about this place is the grammatically correct name.

We've visited a few times since they opened and haven't been disappointed yet. The food is a notch above what you get at iHop or Denny's and the atmosphere is not as noisy. We usually go early, so that might not hold true later in the morning when families with kids arrive.

I tried The Egg & I earlier this year & was not impressed. I swore that I'd never go back. This morning, my husband & I decided to give it another chance. OMG, the food was amazing. The biscuits & gravy was the best I have ever had & I've had some pretty awesome B&G at other restaurants. Service was exceptional & we have decided to go there every Saturday now.

For a chain, the Egg and I is exceptionally good. Very rich fare, with plenty of options for the Carb seeker, the 'quasi vegan', and the Ketogenic style eaters. They work both on and off-menu. Coffee is ample, and good flavor. If you are on the high-fat diet, they have heavy whipping cream from the kitchen, with a little convincing of the server needed. Good quality, a little upscale on price, but well worth it.

My boyfriend and I've been here many times, because it is one of the better or best breakfast place in the Grand Junction area. Being from LA, and a flight attendant, I have limitless access to breakfast places throughout the countries, so I was just glad they have this place here. Their raspberry granola pancake is the best. Services are prompted and friendly. Highly recommend to stop by and eat here.

I LIKE this place! The egg & I was the best breakfast I have had in GJ so far. I am a push-over for a great classic Eggs Benedict and the Egg & I did not disappoint. Great service and fun staff too. Wish I had thought to take a pic. Enjoy Cheue

Love the omelettes here? My favorite breakfast place! It's always packed and a bit noisy but the food is so good who cares. I've been coming here for years and love the skillet plates and the potatoes. Also the blueberry wheat pancakes with extra blueberries. The service is excellent and the coffee cup is always full.

I am a stickler for great service, as I work in a service industry. I cannot say enough great things about the quality of service at the egg & i. I have been here about 7 times for both breakfast and lunch. The consistent quality service is impressive. The food is also amazing! Prices are fair, and the balcony outside is awesome atmosphere for breakfast!

After having visited other locations, such as Steamboat and Fort Collins, which are very good, I was glad to see The Egg & I come to Grand Junction. The food is consistently above average and they provide a comfortable, relaxed environment accompanied by mellow classical music and warm colors to put you in the right mood. My breakfast recommendation is the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict, and for lunch, try half a Reuben with a side salad topped with lemon basil dressing. During the first year in business, professionalism was on par with the Fort Collins locations, but as time has progressed, the service seems to have waned, but I guess that's the case with most places here on the Western Slope. The communication of the wait-staff gives the impression that they hire only former truck-stop waitresses and single moms in rehab. The location is nice and clean, and very convenient, although the parking area was poorly thought-out, with many spaces allocated for adjacent business, which draw a fraction of the clientèle. As for the interior, though comfortable and quaint, it's not unique; it smacks of chain restaurant / thoughtless architect. I would highly recommend requesting a booth for comfort's sake, as the chairs inform you that your welcome is over at 45 minutes. While I have taken a somewhat cynical approach, I have to say that for breakfast and lunch, there are few options in the area that offer a better menu and fresher quality. Yeah, you pay a bit more than you would at Denny's, but you have to decide what it's worth to you.

The Egg & I is one of my favorite places to eat breakfast here in GJ. Breakfast is a meal I never skip. The food comes in large portions. The pancakes are SO good and whole wheat even! They have a variety of basic Egg, pancake and waffle meals which I am highly fond of. LOTS of good food- even open for lunch! here is a link to their menu- theeggandirestaurants.co…

When we arrived, there was an argument between staff at the host desk. This should have been the first sign. After we got seated, our "suppose to be" waiter walked up the edge of the table and saw it was two males, one obviously gay. He turned around, walked away and asked a different server to wait on us, which was probably the best thing that happened at the restaurant. Get the menus, and guess what!?! An Egg based restaurant that doesn't serve quiche. During our lunch, we among everyone in our section got to hear from the busing staff (loudly) how much they were not happy with their jobs and were walking around cussing. It was obviously making customers uncomfortable as I have never seen a "upscale" (I use the quotes sarcastically) turn over tables so fast as one felt they couldn't eat fast enough to get out of the building. One table had a young child and the mother finally called them on this. We asked to speak to the manager, who came over, half attempted to apologize and claimed he couldn't hear them (I think by this point most of the restaurant could hear them). After this, our section was only visited by our server, no one else. Tables were not cleaned or anything. On the way out, the manager then proceeded to give dirty looks to everyone in our section as they left. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone, and if they want tourists to think highly of GJ, businesses shouldn't send people there until this place can clean up its act.
